Story of the Book 

What are the similarities between reading a scroll in ancient times and “scrolling” on electronic devices now? See and touch samples of the earliest books and learn the history of the book. Professor Scott Culpepper will bring the history of the book alive.

Poetry Reading 

Dave Schelhaas will join us at the library to talk about his new book and share his love of poetry.  He will also read some of his poems and talk about what makes a great poem.

OBOSC Panel Discussion 

One Book, One Sioux County will host a panel discussion on vaccinations at 7 p.m. on Thursday, October 14 at Dordt’s Ag Stewardship Center.

How to Diffuse a Situation 

Parents are invited to hear Hannah Buteyn speak on how to diffuse a situation with a child who is upset.  This program is being offered at the same time as Pop Up Play Day.  Hannah is a licensed Master of Social Work and practices Behavioral Heath Therapy at SC Health.

OBOSC Author Event 

One Book One Sioux County is excited to have author Tosca Lee at this year’s event on Thursday, November 4.  This will be held at the Dordt Ag Stewardship Center.  Registration is requested.

Holiday Boutique 

Vendors are needed for the Holiday Boutique on November 20, 2021.  This is a great opportunity for the public to come shop for everyone on their Christmas list!  The Holiday Boutique will be held from 9am-2pm.  Proceeds from this event will go towards upcoming building projects at the library.

100 Books Before College

The 100 Books Before College challenge is for 5th-12th grade students.  The goal is to encourage students to continue to read in order to be as prepared for higher education as they can.  This challenge will also take place solely on Beanstack.
