STEM Room
Families are invited to play in our STEM Room. The STEM Room features hands-on activities for children to learn, play, grow, and build community. The Sioux Center Public Library recognizes that reading is an important life skill, learning to read starts at birth, and parents play instrumental roles as children’s first and best teachers. Librarians encourage parents to engage with their children using five practices crucial to literacy development: talking, singing, reading, writing, and playing.
Current features of the STEM Room include:
- Corn Picking Wall
- Wall Lite Brite
- Tractor – with slide & tunnels
- Egg Chute
- Light Table
- Check-Out Stand – with beeping cash register
- Pickable Garden
- Produce Bins
- Baby Garden – with bench, toys, & flower mirrors
